Udit Narayan Biography
Udit Narayan Jha, better known as Udit Narayan,
own as Udit Narayan, is an Indian playback singer,
television personality, actor and producer.
He has sung in various languages including Telugu, Kannada,
Tamil, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri, Nepali, Malayalam,
Assamese, Bagheli and Maithili.
Although he is an established singer in Indian cinema,
he is also a legend in Nepali music and cinema.
His achievements include 4 National Film Awards and
5 Filmfare Awards. Udit Narayan is the only singer in
Indian history to have won Filmfare Awards in three decades
(the eighties, the nineties and the zero decades).
The Government of India awarded Udit Narayan the
Padma Shri in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his
invaluable contribution to film music.
In addition, the late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev
of Nepal awarded
Udit Narayan the Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu Award in 2001.
Udit Narayan was awarded the Chitragupta Cinejatra Award
for his contribution to Bhojpuri cinema in 2015. 21
songs sung by Udit Narayan are included in the BBC's list
of the 40 greatest Bollywood songs of all time.
Udit Narayan has sung 25,000 songs in over 36 languages.
