Runa Laila Biography
Runa Laila is a famous Bangladeshi singer.
In Bangladesh, she is widely known as the 'Queen of Songs',
Queen of Tunes' and 'Goddess of Tunes'.
She is famous for her film, pop, modern and classical music
in Bangladesh.
However, outside Bangladesh, she has a good reputation
as a ghazal artist in other South Asian countries.
She started working as a film singer before Bangladesh
became independent.
Apart from Bangladesh, she has given voice to many songs in
Indian and Pakistani films.
Runa Laila has sung more than 13,000 songs in a total of 18
languages, including Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Sindhi,
Gujarati, Balochi, Pashto, Persian, Arabic, Malay, Nepali,
Japanese, Spanish, French, Latin and English.
Her song Damadam Mast Qalandar is very popular in India
and Pakistan. She has learned folk music from Dinendra
Chowdhury, a long-time famous folk singer.
