Ayub Bachchu was a Bangladeshi musician, singer-songwriter and guitarist. He gained worldwide popularity as the singer and guitarist of the rock band LRB. He is considered one of the greatest artists and guitarists in the popular music genre of Bangladesh. He completed his graduation and post-graduation from Chittagong College under the University of Chittagong. Bachchu started his musical career in Chittagong in 1976 by forming a band called "Ugly Boys" during his college life. In 1977, he joined "Feelings" (now known as "Nagar Baul") and worked with the band until 1980. In the same year, he joined the popular rock band Souls as the lead guitarist. With Souls, he worked on four albums until 1990, Super Souls (1982), College Corridor (1985), Manush Matir Nair (1987) and East and West (1988). On 5 April 1991, he formed his own band, Little River Band, which later became popularly known as Love Runs Blind, or LRB for short. He remained with the band for 27 years until his death in 2018. He also achieved success as a solo artist. His first solo album, Rakt Golap, was released in September 1986. With his second album, Moyna (1988), he achieved success in his solo career and later released the album Kasht (1995), which was a huge success. In 2007, he released the country's first instrumental album, Sound of Silence. Bachchu has sold a lot of albums with LRB and as a solo artist. Bachchu is one of the best guitarists and one of the most influential guitarists in Bangladesh. With LRB, he has won six Meril Prothom Alo Awards and one Citycell-Channel i Music Awards. In 2004, he won the Bachsas Award in the Best Male Vocal category. In 2017, he won the Tele Cine Lifetime Achievement Award.
Bachchu married his girlfriend Ferdous Chandana on 31 January 1991. They have two children. Daughter Fairuz Safra Ayub and son Ahnaf Tajwar Ayub. After suffering from pulmonary edema for six years, he died of a heart attack at his residence in Dhaka in October 2018. He performed his last concert in Rangpur two days before his death.
He was buried in their family graveyard in Chaitanya Goli, Chittagong, next to his mother's grave.
