Sabina Yasmin Biography


Sabina Yasmin is a Bangladeshi playback singer. 
Born: 4 September 1954.
In addition to singing in Bangladeshi films, she has established 
herself as one of the country's best singers by singing
in various genres, including patriotic songs, classical,
folk songs, and modern Bengali songs.
She has won 14 National Film Awards and 6 Bachsas Awards
for her contributions to film music.
The Bangladesh government awarded her the second highest 
civilian state honor, the Ekushey Padak, in 1984, and the
highest civilian state honor,
the Swadhinata Puraskar, in 1996, for her contribution to the
music branch of the arts.

Sabina began taking singing lessons from childhood.
She participated in her first stage performance at the age of
seven and sang for children on a radio program called
Khelaghar. In 1962, she participated in the film Noun Sur,
singing for children to the tune of Rabin Ghosh.
She made her debut as a full-fledged playback singer in films
in 1967 with the film Agun Ne Khela. In 1972,
she first gained popularity by singing the song
"Shudhu Gaan Gaye Paarito" from the film Abujh Mon.
At the 1st National Film Awards in 1976,
she won the National Film Award in the Best Female Playback 
Singer category for the song "Sab Sakhire Par Karite"
from the film Sujan Sakhi,
and then won three more National Film Awards in a row
for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundari (1979)
and Kasai (1980).

In the 1980s, her songs "Jonma Te Jwalachhi Mago",
"Ami Rajnigandha Phuler Mato" and "Chithi Dio Pratidin"
gained popularity.
During this time, she won four National Film Awards
for singing songs in the films Chandranath (1984),
Premik (1985), Rajalakshmi Srikanth (1987) and
Dui Jiban (1988). She then won the National Film Award for her songs in the films Danga (1991), Radha Krishna (1992),
Dui Duari (2000), Dui Nayaner Alo (2005), and Devdas (2013).
She won her 14th National Film Award for her songs in the film 
Laxmi Putra (2018).

Notable among the patriotic songs she sang are "Janma Amar 
Dhanya Holo Ma Go",
"Sab Ka Ta Janala Khule Dao Na", "O Amar Bangla Ma",
"Maaji Nao Chhiya De", "Sunder Subarna"
and "Ekti Bangladesh Tumi Jagrata Jantar".
In addition to singing, she served as a judge on Channel i's
Sera Kantha show in 2010. Her third husband,
Kabir Suman, is a renowned musician and composer.
